On Behalf of Gierth-Eddy Law Offices, PLLC April 27, 2020

Every day, people across the country sustain serious injuries in motor vehicle collisions. It is imperative for drivers to recognize the risks they face every time they get behind the wheel. Sadly, many lives are lost in these collisions and injuries disrupt victims’ lives in countless ways.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, auto accident injuries cause people in the U.S. to spend more than one million days in the hospital every year. Moreover, these injuries result in billions of dollars of lost wages and medical costs.

The Number of Injuries

For starters, a large number of people are injured in car crashes each year. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that more than 3.1 million people sustained an injury in a car crash during 2016. Compared to previous years, this shows a notable increase in the number of traffic crash injuries. Those injured face many obstacles in their lives after the wreck, from permanent immobility to the inability to work and chronic pain.

Recovering from An Injury

For car crash victims, every injury is unique and the approach to recovery varies. Some people are able to improve in a relatively short period of time, while others are never able to make a full recovery. It is imperative for victims of these wrecks and their loved ones to explore all options on the table, such as taking legal action against a reckless driver. Sadly, many people will face these burdens in the months ahead and auto accident victims need to have a clear understanding of their rights.
